It is fitting that February celebrates the planet Jupiter, the 5th planet from the Sun. During February Jupiter is in opposition which simply means that it is opposite the sun in our sky and as such is very bright. Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system in fact it is so large that all of the other planets in the solar system could fit inside it. More than 1,000 Earths would fit inside Jupiter! Its average distance from the sun is 5.2 AU. Jupiter is usually the second brightest planet in the sky, after Venus. In Roman Mythology Jupiter was the king of the gods.
